Fantasy Land Forest
Taken in Pilsbach along the Kohlaichbach stream in the first week of Jan 2014 (still no snow here this winter).
Quite a busy image but forests are complicated places and full of difficult challenges for photographers! With the light hitting the bank and the stream like that, it looked like a scene from a fantasy movie, so I just had to try to get it. The bright part of the stream defines the stream's shape as it curves around behind the bank and into the distance. It’s that bright part of the stream that seems to draw your eye in at the first glance, (the fallen tree seems to point right at it) then, as you follow the water back along the stream, you suddenly see the darker reflection of the bank, like a surprise that rewards that second glance. As you look around more, there’s more to see in this shot. It's not just for a quick glance ;-)
